The World Polio Day event kicked off at the Faculty of Nursing

In the presence of Prof. Dr. Tarek Ali, President of the University, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Abu El-Hassan Abdel-Mawgoud, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Affairs; Prof. Dr. Hanan El-Zabalaa Hasnawi, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing; Prof. Dr. Sherine El-Sayed Sherif, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Affairs; and in the presence of Prof. Dr. Hanaa Kamal, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Education and Student Affairs, the Department of Pediatric Nursing, Prof. Dr. Sahar Sedky Fahim, and the activity coordinators, Dr. Baraka Fam and Dr. Sarah, organized a special race to mark "World Polio Day," which is observed annually until October 24th It is an opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of continuing vaccination campaigns. This day was first launched in 1988 by Rotary International to commemorate the birthday of scientist Jonas Salk, who led the first team to develop a polio vaccine. The use of this vaccine has led to a significant decrease in the number of polio cases worldwide. This year, the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI), led by the World Health Organization (WHO), was launched In collaboration with Rotary International, the initiative has achieved significant progress in reducing polio cases by over 99%, bringing the world closer to its goal of completely eradicating the disease
